The 2016 OMT Doctoral Consortium in Anaheim, California attracted a large number of applications and a strong pool of nominees. We were able to include 51 doctoral students from around the world, most of them in their final year of study. Thirty faculty members generously donated their time and expertise to make the consortium a success.
The event started Thursday night with cocktails and dinner around the pool at the Tangerine Grill & Patio in the always perfect SO CA climate of picturesque sunsets and palm trees, followed by a full day of activity on Friday. Three scholarly panels provided insights related to being on the job market, getting published and managing a research pipeline, and managing your career. In addition, faculty facilitators and doctoral students discussed in a small-group research roundtable format their research projects based on their proposals and email exchange submitted in advance of the workshop. These roundtables provided an opportunity for detailed feedback and close dialogue with established scholars and other participants sharing common interests. This year theme research roundtables reflecting key areas of research paper submissions for OMT and allied divisions were organized by established scholars in those fields. The program also included a welcome from Davide Ravasi (City University, London), the PDW Chair and Marc-David Seidel (Sauder School of Business), the OMT Program Chair. The following faculty served as mentors and participated in panels and roundtable discussions:
In the afternoon, the Doctoral Consortium joined the OMT Junior Faculty Consortium for teaching roundtables, organized by Christine Quinn Trank (Vanderbilt University) and Bill Foster (University of Alberta).
The 2015 OMT Doctoral Consortium event was generously sponsored by the Ross School of Management (University of Michigan), Sociology and Management at the Mays School of Business (Texas A&M University), and INSEAD.
